The Green Synthesis and Biocatalysis Group is part of the Chemistry Research Centre at OSCAR and is led
by Principal Investigator Professor Luet Wong.
The primary research interests of the group:
Investigation of eco-friendly synthetic approaches to complex natural products
We construct structurally complex natural product synthetic pathways, which are reconstructed and optimised using molecular biology and metabolic engineering techniques, in lab-grown cell factories. This enables the development of green synthesis technologies for high-value natural products
Industrial development of bioenzymatic catalysts
We extract high-performance catalytic enzymes from nature. And by exploiting their excellent performance and mild reaction requirements, and through biological and protein engineering approaches, we develop green synthesis technologies for high-value chemicals
